Help us break a participation record at our season opener!

Our first tournament of the year has picked up a last-minute wave of applicants from new teams – we’re now looking at the possibility of hosting a record 200+ students from 12 schools at our season opener this Saturday (9/20)! However, to give all of these bright students the chance to debate, we need at least 10 more judges. Our tournament will be held at Hulcy Middle School (9339 South Polk Street, 75232), and we will host rounds at: 10:00am, 12:30pm, and 2:15pm.

Sunset senior, Victor Martinez, on his summer at Dartmouth

Victor Martinez, a rising senior at Sunset High School, attended the Debate Institutes at Dartmouth (DDI) for almost five weeks on a full scholarship through a partnership between DUDA and the DDI.   Victor has been debating for three years now, and says he picked up a slew of useful skills at the DDI - including how to research effectively and be a team player.

Save the date: North Texas Giving Day is September 18th!

North Texas Giving Day is an online giving event that provides nonprofits the opportunity to gain exposure to - and start relationships with - new donors, as well as for people in North Texas to come together to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits. Dallas Urban Debate is one of the nonprofits looking to raise money for its programs.

Official Dallas Urban Debate event calendar released!

This year, Dallas Urban Debate will host 15 tournaments and facilitate student access to a variety of other tournaments and training sessions hosted by the University Interscholastic League, the National Speech and Debate Association, and the Texas Forensic Association.   You can access our official tournament calendar here - if you represent a school interested in starting a program, are a volunteer interested in helping us at any of these events, or are an existing coach and have questions about our conference system, please contact our Director of Programming! .
